About Me

Welcome!
My name is Zohra Mekki, and I am a young adult and children’s book illustrator. Growing up in Bucks County Pennsylvania, I attended a Waldorf School where creativity was woven into every aspect of my life. It was there that I first fell in love with the world of art, finding a way to tell stories through illustrations rather than words. I continued to pursue this passion at Syracuse University, earning an undergraduate's degree in illustration.

During my time at SU, I was blessed enough to be a part of a study abroad program in Florence, Italy in the spring of 2024. To say that this experience changed my life is an understatement. Being engulfed in such a cultural city beaming with art, I fell back in love with the creativity of illustration, proving to myself that this was the correct path for me for the future.

Throughout my work, I strive to capture the magic of storytelling, especially for young viewers. Whether it is a whimsical picture book, or a detailed young adult novel, I seek to use color and a painterly technique to create rich, and immersive worlds that spark curiosity and inspire the young minds to dream and explore their imaginations.
